I like facebook but latest features of LinkedIn are very nice. Facebook is social networking site while Linkedin is professional networking site.
I didn't know about new features for Linkedin, I will have to take a look at them.

Thanks for letting us know Kanika. :)

Out of these two I think that Facebook will be better for marketing purposes for most things. Linkedin seems to be more professional and work related and not really suited for sales.

I may be wrong but this is just what I have seen when looking through these 2 websites.

That's about my take on Linkedin also. I guess if you were targeting professionals or even businesses then Linkedin might be good but for most marketing things I think that Facebook will be the better choice.

Yes perhaps for some things Linkedin will be appropriate to use. I still need to learn many things about the social media websites and their best uses.

The social media sites are always changing in many ways so learning about them is an ongoing process. I am sure that you'll learn what you need soon Marcos.

I like both sites. Facebook is a social networking site and you can also promote what you want while Linkedin is for professional/working sites.

It depends. If you are targeting business professionals like CEO of other companies, you should use LinkedIn because it is more professional looking than Facebook and there are some information that you can post in LinkedIn that are not appropriate to post in Facebook. Like Certifications because if you posted your certification (like pictures) it will just be dumped by your more recent posts. But if you are targeting the mass market or the probably the consumers, Facebook is better because most of the people are now using Facebook and you will have a lot of viewers in Facebook.

Both would be great, but it will depend on the product or services you are offering. In Facebook, you can have a lot of audiences either local or international. It would be a great exposure when you post it on Facebook. While, on the other hand, we may consider Ads on LinkedIn, more often professionals will see your add both local and international. More likely, if your product/services is related to Job hunting, consider Ad on LinkedIn.

Do you think that you can also promote professional needs on Facebook also?

There are also a lot of professionals and CEO's that are using Facebook also. Do you think it's better to stick with LinkedIn anyway though for those?

What if your product is for businesses? Do you think that LinkedIn is the best for that or does it not matter?

LinkedIn is still considered new today, and not that many use it in the world. It may be popular yes, but only to a certain age group. If what your purpose in being on social media is to meet as many people on different age groups in order to promote your business better. In promoting and advertising businesses, I really believe that Facebook is the best medium for this. That aside, I think it best to use different social media platforms since by doing so, you'll be able to tap many more people, and make your business more familiar to the mass.

I haven't started to use LinkedIn at all. I usually concentrate my efforts on Facebook and Twitters. You say that LinkedIn is only popular to a certain age group,do you know what age group that is?

I really don't want to waste my time on it later if it isn't used by the right people I am looking for.

Don't you think that it also matters what kind of product or service you are trying to promote or market?

Twitter has the ability to Tweet/Post much more often than with Facebook without looking like spam so I think that some things work better when they are pushed more.

Facebook is way too better and preferable to me. It's basically what I use for my social media marketing and it helps well in generating lots of traffic and patronizers as well for me.

I have the belief that Facebook has more participants than LinkedIn, so virtually it would it be more effective in getting patronizers easy.

What can make them in common? Jobs. Companies. Jobseekers.

As a jobseeker, it's easier to apply cause the one who posted the job most likely will respond to you after a few minutes.

For companies, nowadays they do have their official Facebook page wherein everything about them like their company profile and available jobs are posted. You can send out a message as well and initially receive an automatic response. After a while, a designated CSR will respond to your specific concern.

So it only boils to one conclusion that Facebook works better.

Facebook and LinkedIn are two different social media platforms with different options and features. Both are designed to connect people online however, LinkedIn is professionally designed intended more for business and professional networking. It offers a profile and options to network in a business sense. Facebook, on the other hand is designed more to connect family and friends. When you want to know where an old colleague is working now, you use LinkedIn. When you want to find out if that same colleague is married and if they have kids, you use Facebook.

Do you use any other social media platforms or do you mainly stick to Facebook?

I have been wanting to expand into using other social media platforms but have not really branched out from the 3 main ones that I use.

Both site focuses different target users, so it'll depend on you on what is your actual target market. But for my own opinion facebook has lot more to offer since it has a wide range of members added every now and then, so if someone is looking to market his business might as well don't forget to add facebook on their options to market, as it will give you more opportunity to make your business to be known worldwide by different people.
