I have been looking at many different wordpress themes but don't know which ones are good to use on my website that will have also some marketing advertizements on it.

Is there some that are better for this or where can I get some good ones for this purpose?

There are a lot of themes that would work good for your needs. It is going to depend on what theme you like and what looks and works good on your site.

I have seen a lot of people using a "Newspaper" style theme lately. These work well for showcasing your articles and having lots of information and images on your home page.

I would say that the best thing to do would be to go and look at some themes and see what you like. Then if you see one you like and you aren't sure it will work for your needs, you can just post here and some members can take a look at it for you.

Some places you can check that have nice themes & a big selection are:
    studiopress.com
    themify.me
    elegantthemes.com
    dessign.net

If you see a theme that you like you can look on the info page and see more about the themes. Some have special spots for advertisements, rotating advertisement widgets or other advertisement options made for displaying ads and work well for affiliate or other marketing.

I would say just look for something that you like the looks of, is easy to use and easy to navigate.

    Good Luck.

I check those websites and found one I like on themify.me called magazine. This can be used for other things besides a magazine website? Can newspaper themes be also used for blogs?

I am sorry but I do not know this about the wordpress themes.

Yes, that one can be used for other things as well. It's called a "Magazine" style because of how it's laid out and how it looks, not what it's for in particular.

Yes newspaper themes can be used for blogs or a lot of other things. This is the same as I explained about the magazine theme you liked. It's just called that because of the styling and how it's laid out

Don't be sorry at all, this is how we all learn things, by asking questions.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask them.

    Good Luck. ;)

Thank you for the help. I really like that theme and if you say it can work then I will think about this one. I am still looking at some other theme but there are so many on the internet then it takes a long time to see many of them. This one I like the best so far.

    You are welcome my friend.

Another place that you might want to check out is themeforest.net. They have a nice selection of themes also. Just make sure to check the date of the last update for the themes since many of them are not updated regularly so there could be issues with being compatible with the latest version of WordPress and some plugins.

Look for the more recently updated themes and themes from developers that have many offerings since they tend to be more active and update their themes more often.

    Good Luck. ;)

I checked and found 2 different themes I like but they are not updated this year. Does this place have regular updates for themes or just sellers update when they want?

The updates are done by the developer/publisher of the theme, so it's just whenever they get them out. That is basically just a marketplace for developers/designers/publishers to sell there products and the marketplace gets a cut.

When things get updated is up to the one selling the theme. Some of the good ones have regular updates and get a good reputation for them and their support, so that helps sales. Other sellers just don't seem to care, that's why it's always good to check their feedback and even the comments for the themes.

If you see one you like, just make sure to do a little research on it before buying to make sure everything looks good.

    Good Luck. ;)

Yes, I am making sure they have recent updates. I do not want to get an old outdated one. Thank you.

Wordpress themes have enough functions/tools for you to manage it as well, also help your visitors come the site feel satisfy with things you are provider then you are succeeding in choosing a good theme for marketing your site.

Also, consider On-page SEO factors on your theme are an important point to help your site defeat other sites. These are related a bit more to marketing.

I only can say that because it depends on each person when choosing a theme. It depends on what you need or want to have on a theme.

Yes, it's always good to have one that has recent and regular updates. WordPress does a lot of updating and you don't want to get stuck with a theme that doesn't work properly with the latest versions of WordPress.

Very good point! A marketing blog/website needs to pay more attention to SEO since one of the main purposes of a marketing site is to make money. Better SEO means better rankings and that in turn can increase earnings.

Thanks for pointing that out, that point slipped my mind.

Does the theme affect the seo for the website or the theme does not affect the seo?

How can you tell which places will update the themes they have? If you pay for a theme then they should be updating it when it is needed.

Yes, a theme can affect the SEO of a website in some ways. Since a theme affects many things in WordPress, including the load times, how clean and efficient the code is that the developer/designer used and a couple other aspects, the theme can affect the SEO to a degree.

Unfortunately Argus, their is really no way to know when a developer/designer of a theme is going to update their themes, if at all. It's up to the one selling the themes to do that when they want or need to. Some of the theme sellers are pretty good with frequent update, others are kind of lazy about it. It's just a guessing game unfortunately.

I agree that if you pay for a theme, then the developer/designer should make sure it's updated but that's just not how all developers/designers of themes do things.

    Cheers, Dean

Thank you. Since there is no way to know if they will update the themes then is it better to just use a free one or that does not matter?

You are welcome Argus. To be honest with you I haven't seen much difference in updates happening whether it's for paid or free themes.

I do know that the themes that come with your Wordpress installation (the year themes) do tend to get frequent update. Other than that I really just think it depends on the developer/publisher of the theme.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers, Dean

Well, that's going to be difficult to be able to tell. If you are really wanting a a good theme that has some good SEO characteristics then you can probably do a Google search for themes that work well for SEO.

However, I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as the theme is from a good source/supplier of themes as they do take some things into consideration as far as SEO. Plus there are a lot of good SEO plugins that can help improve the SEO of your site that you can use.

If it was me, i'd just go after a good theme that does what I want and will look like I want and then use a good SEO plugin.

    Good Luck. ;)
