Which social media site should I use?

I am wanting to start getting a social media account setup for my marketing purposes and I really only want to start out using just one to help generate sale, traffic and sign-ups. If I was to use just one to start with then which one do you think would be the best to start out using?

I will probably use some other social media sites later but just want to start with one for now.

Hello Ben, Look Every Social Network sites have huge potential to promote your website, products or services. For Me Facebook, Twitter and Google+ Works great for me. It helps me to drive traffic to my blog. I have good list of connection in my Facebook account which helps me to get quality and loyal readers.

This is really going to depend on a few things like the audience you are trying to reach, the products or services that you are going to marketing, the amount of time that you want to spend and some other things.

If you are looking for something easy and with the ability to reach a lot of people quickly then Twitter might be a good choice for you, but then as I stated above, it will depend a lot on what other factors come into play.

Like the guy above said it depends. If your audience is horny men then Instagram and dating type sites. If your audience is businessmen then LinkedIn. Facebook is good for general traffic, but it can be hard to start up. Same with twitter. I usually use at least a few, but start with one for sure.

I think if you like talking and discussing things with people then facebook will probably be a real good choice for you but if you do not want that and just want to market then twitter might be better for you. :)

Thank you all for the replies. I am basically looking to use which ever one is the easiest for someone with little social website experience. I just don't know how to do much on them so which ever one is simplest will probably be the best place to start.

The one that is probably going to be the easiest for someone new to social media will probably be Twitter or maybe even Google+. Personally I would start out with Twitter and then go from there.

Cheers, Dean.

I think social media is really vital. I doubt anyone would disagree with me about that. But social media is also misunderstood in some ways. One of those misunderstandings iswhich social media sites a business or person should be on.

If you search you’re going to know which social media sites are best for your brand or business. You won’t have to waste your time messing around on social media sites that have no ROI, and you even might do better at acquirement leads on the social media sites that are ideal for your business.
Thank you

I think that the best choice of social media websites to use will depend a little on your marketing techniques and what you are marketing.

Here are some that I would try first:

  • Facebook
  • Youtube
  • Twitter
  • Google plus
  • Linkedin
  • Instagram

If you want to just start with one social media website then Facebook would probably be the best one most of the time.

I think that if you are using social media for marketing uses and you are trying to decide which social network to use I would use the one that is more likely to have the type of people that you are looking to market to.

You should choose social media depending on what type of audience or market you are targeting. But for me facebook is a good start since people nowadays are common to have this account. It also a good platform to start up your marketing and advertising stuff.

I, personally, would start with Facebook and branch out from there. Agreeing with @Domingotarlejr, I get the impression that most people have a Facebook account and use it at least fairly regularly, while other social media like Twitter and Instagram have less of an "everyone uses it" feel (though this may be because many of the people I interact with are ages 25+; I couldn't tell you off the top of my head where you'd want to start for a younger audience). I also find that Facebook makes it easy to promote or engage the audience: you can create individual event pages for events, people can leave reviews, it creates albums for pictures, makes it easy for people to follow because most already have a Facebook account, etc. I think the flexibility is really important, and the extra features put it a step above other social media. Google+ is similar, but the lower usage numbers make it significantly less practical and useful. You have to go where the people are, and right now, I think (if you had to choose one), that'd be Facebook.

Even though I hate Facebook I have to agree with this. I created one mostly to promote my website and I have to say that it has already driven some traffic to it despite the short time that I have my account up. Personally I don't like it. I find it invasive and pointless. But sometimes we got to do what we got to do.

Well it depends on what your doing with these social media sites, but for me I tend to mix it up a bit. I use Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, Soundcloud, and Instagram, which all have there ups and down, but I enjoy how Instagram links to my Facebook and twitter accounts so I don't have to post to those sites separately.
