Should I only use web hosting that has cPanel?

I am looking around for some web hosting and wanted to know if I should only get web hosting that uses cPanel or if it really doesn't matter that much. I see most do but not all.

What do you guys think?

That will depend on you and what you like or are familiar with. If you like cpanel and are used to it then you should stick with it because you will not need to learn to use a new panel.

I personally prefer cPanel over the other control panels out there but I would say that whether you should use it or not depends on your preferences.

If you are familiar with cPanel and know how to use it then there is really no good reason to get web hosting that uses another based on the CP alone.

Most control panels have similar functions but the ease of use is not always as good as cPanel.

It's really up to you and what you prefer but if it was me getting web hosting I would go with a host that has it.

Are you meaning for shared web hosting or some other type of web hosting?

I have used that and a couple of others but I was not sure if there was some extra added benefit of using it over other control panels.

Yes I am familiar with cPanel and also a couple of others. I keep seeing it mentioned as a main feature so I was wondering if it has something special that other control panels don't offer.

I forgot to stipulate that. Yes I was meaning for shared web hosting.

OK then I would recommend using a web hosting provider that offers cPanel for shared web hosting services. Based on my experience it is just easier and functions better than other options that I have tried for shared hosting.

One of the other control panels that many hosts use is vDeck and I never really liked that one as much as I have liked cPanel.

Of course it can also come down to a personal preference but if you have none then I would recommend going with someone that offers cPanel.

To me the added benefits are that it is a real good control panel that is very easy to do anything you need to do. It might be easier to move accounts to another cpanel web host also as many give free cpanel migrations.

Good point to mention and one that slipped my mind. Many web hosts will give free website transfers to new customers if they are using cPanel so that is something to keep in mind.

I have used web hosting that had vdeck and I didn't like a couple of the functions on it. It was a couple of years ago but I doubt that much has changed or improved. Thanks for the advice.

Now that you bring that point up I have seen some offering free cPanel moves. Maybe it's easier for hosts to do it with that control panel than with others. Thanks for your input.

You are most welcome. ;)

One of the things that I really didn't like about vDeck was their file manager. It was junk compared to the file manager in cPanel.

I noticed the file manager sucked myself. The interface of vdeck was a lot more polished but that's the only thing I really thought they had an edge over cpanel with.

I have only used 2 control panels and cpanel is the best one so I recommend using hosting with it. I have to have someone help me move my blog because my old host did not use cpanel and my new host only gave free transfer help if you had cpanel before.

You are welcome my friend. I am sure there is some reason why they offer free cpanel moves and it is quite possibly because they are easy for them to do it so they offer the moves for free.

Yeah I guess that it does look a little fancier in some ways but it also looks a bit dated. It looks a little like it was build using old Microsoft Front Page. ;)

Thanks, I will be keeping that in mind when I get my hosting.

Maybe there is some behind the scenes thing that makes moving cPanel easier and that's why they do it.

When I was looking at web hosting companies the last few days I have noticed that most that have cpanel for their hosting are offering free cpanel transfers so I am sure there is something to that which is why they offer that.

I talked to someone on a live chat at a host and they said it was easier because they get a TAR file of the whole account from the old host and just transfer it to their servers so it is a lot easier.

I think you should get 1 that has cpanel because there are all the best web hosting sites that have it and when I always look how to do things then cpanel is always on the top of the search results. It is the most popular one from reading about it in many places.

I have heard of those but I am not sure of what it is. It is more than likely some kind of compressed file with everything from your account in it so that would make sense of it being easier.

I have been doing a little reading on it and everyone says that cPanel is the best but they also say it takes a lot of your hosting resources so it can slow your websites down. I am going to see about finding out more on it.

I think it is something like that too. The only compressed file types that I usually see myself are the .zip and .rar but the TAR files might be something similar.
