If I change web hosting will it hurt my rankings?

I was thinking about changing web hosts and was wondering if changing to a new web host will change or affect the rankings for my blog.

Can I expect any kind of change or does it not matter if I change web hosting?

Changing web hosting services should not affect your rankings (usually) as long as you move your site properly and don't go changing anything important.

However, if you are moving from a host that has a lot of downtime, outages or is slow to a better hosting service then you might see a slight improvement depending on how bad things were before. This works the other way around also going from good to bad hosting. ;)

It should only hurt your rankings if you move to a new host that has bad hosting services. Things like slow servers and too much down time can hurt your rankings.

When you change your web hosting provider, make sure that you have done it properly. Take the backup of your website including files and database. Upload it to new host and change the necessary config files. After that change the name server of your domain to new host. You can also take help from your new web hosting provider.

I don't think if you get new web hosting it will affect your rankings unless it is bad web hosting. I am going to change to different web hosting probably pretty soon because I am having too much downtime. I was reading about this same things and saw that it should not change if the new web hosting is good.

Changing web hosts itself won't affect your rankings unless something gets changed or the hosting is bad. Other than that if all is the same your shouldn't notice any change in rankings just from hosting changes.

I'm still trying to figure out how to tell if a new host would be better than my old one. The one I am at now has poor support and it's slow so that's a big deciding factor for me. I just wouldn't know if a potential host would be good or not.

I do not know how to tell that myself. I guess you just have to try to get good advice from people or good reviews.

If you change web hosts it should only affect your rankings if you are moving to a service that is extremely slow or has a lot of downtime.

Other than that your rankings should stay the same. I have heard of people having a slight impact on rankings but they soon bounced back to what they were.

many providers offer free Data Migration Service and all you need to do is update the name servers wth your domain provider

I have seen some that offer that. My main concern is my rankings being affected by a move. I have read conflicting information on it.

Moving to a new host won't hurt my rankings tough will it?

I don't think that changing web hosting is affect the ranking of a website. But changing the server location may affect the ranking.
I did not think about the server location affecting my rankings. Thank you for bringing that up.

as long as you are not changing anything with your website and the new web hosting is just as good or better then it should not harm your website. I have heard that it may fluctuate in the rankings for a couple days after moving but then will return to it's place but I am not sure that is accurate.

The only thing that I would be change was where my blog is hosted. I am keeping everything else the same for now.

Thanks. I just still don't know how to tell if a host is good or bad without using their services.
It is not always easy to do but you can try checking and asking other people what they know about the hosting. Try to read about them and see if there is bad things posted on then. It can be hard.

Finding accurate information on web hosting services is hard to find from what I have been reading. I might just ask about any one I think I may use.
