What's the most important thing to look for in a web host?

I am possibly going to be changing web hosts because I am unhappy with my current host so I was wondering what the most important thing is to look for in a web host.

What should be my first priority to look for in a web host before I buy a service?

You are probably going to get many different answer to this question because people will value things differently from person to person.

My personal opinion would be to look for a web host that has great customer service since service can greatly impact your site.

If you have great customer service then any issues or problems should be resolved quickly and accurately.

Bad customer service can really hurt you site and it's uptime and performance if there are problems. That can lose you traffic and potential earnings.

After customer service then I would look for good server performance and specs.

I second the customer service for the most important thing to look for in a web host. After that I look at the price and specs for the money.

The most important thing for me is good support services. Since I am new to most things to do with web hosting it really makes some things easier.

Mine even answers what many would consider dumb questions.

The most important thing for me that I look for in a web host is the quality level of their support. I have been with some hosting companies (EIG) that had really bad support and trust me, you do not want to have to deal with that.

I think the most important thing is if they are a good quality web host and not a junk web host. If you have a bad quality web host then the support will be bad and your site might load really slow and that can hurt your ranks.

@KeralMTG How do I know if a host is a junk host before I buy from them? Most of them want you to pay for a year at a time so if it turns out to be a bad host then you will lose a lot of money.

I think there are 2 things that are equally important to look for with a web hosting service. They are the quality that their equipment is and how good is their support for their customers.

If their servers are poor and there is much down time or if they are slow then that can hurt the success of your website. If the support is bad then when you need help then it might be hard to get the task done properly when you need it.

I think you should get web hosting that has fast support. I say that choice because I have had really slow support times before that took some times a half of a day to reply or fix something and a couple times they were longer. I hate having to wait so long for things that should not take that long.

- Up time (sure very host say 99.99%)
- Support by both phone and email or live chat is the best.
- Price, if you're not rich
- Google search for the others comment for that host when you decide to use.

That is too much time to wait for support to help you. What if your website was down the whole time? That would have many bad affects including maybe some missed money making opportunities.
