I have seen a lot more talk around here about web hosting and I was curious what type of web hosting some of our members are using.

I am currently using shared web hosting myself and it fills my needs but I have been thinking about getting a VPS setup and going to have more control of my hosting and to possibly get better performance also.

What type of web hosting are you using for you website or websites?

Take the poll above if you can and share a little about your web hosting also if possible.

Right now I have been using just shared web hosting but I would like to get a vps and have my blog and maybe some other things on it. I just don't know how to set things up on a vps.

I have been wanting to get a VPS going myself but just haven't had the time to look into it enough. Many of the things needed to setup and operate a VPS would be new to me so I need to learn more about them first.

I am hoping to get one up and going later down the road, hopefully in the not so distant future.

I am just using shared web hosting because I only have a blog with lower traffic amounts. When I start to get alot more traffic for it then maybe I will get a vps but right now I don't think it will be any help.

Currently I am using Shared web hosting as my site is currently receive 3k visitors monthly so, it is definitely quite low to upgrade my plan to VPS.
You have a lot of good posts with a lot of helpful information on your blog so I am sure that your traffic numbers will be increasing more and more over time.

A VPS probably won't be much help but it can also give you more control and freedom of what you can do with your hosting. Shared hosting has limits like what can be installed on it, what types of things you can host on it and some other technical limitations.

Unless you have the traffic or a specific need then a VPS is usually not worth it. I have several sites so I am thinking of getting a VPS when I get the chance to learn more about the technical stuff so that I can consolidate all my sites to one hosting service.

Thanks for the appreciation man. I really appreciate it. :)
Sure thing Vishwa, you are welcome. :)

I direct people to your site and your posts often when I come across someone that is looking for information on something or if they want to learn about IM in general. You have a nice assortment of good articles to learn about many different things so that makes it good for people looking for information on many subjects. That is always a good thing.

I am going to wait until I need a vps before I get one. I want to have more websites and then when I get them setup I might need it but for right now I know I don't.

I also don't know how to do many things for servers so it will be hard for me now anyway.

When you get 1 and set it up perhaps you can share some tips for some of us who don't know about them.

Well you can start reading and researching about it now or when you have some extra time. That way when you are ready you will know a lot of what you would need to know already.

Of course I will go ahead and do that. I was planning on taking some notes when I do it and maybe make some kind of guide for newbies, like me. :)

I run a side business and have a host of different sites in various niches hosted on cloud platform. Currently, using cloud hosting as cloud has the edge over traditional web hosting when it comes to security, performance and scalability.

I have never used cloud web hosting so I really do not know that much about it. What makes it more secure than traditional web hosting types?

I use shared hositng but plan to use a VPS.
I have used a VPS before for testing but never for any of my actual websites. I have been planing on doing that for a while now but just have not had the time to get everything going. Hopefully soon.

I'm using a few dedicated servers.
Since you are using a few dedicated servers, does that mean that you have several websites that you own or run?
