Is it good to stay with the same host for a long time?

I saw some information that said that search engines like websites that stay with the same place for long times and do not move because of being consistent and reliable and that some bad websites move often.

Do you think it is good to stay with the same web hosting for a long time or is this just some kind of myth?

I have read a little on this and based on what I have read I don't think that the search engines really care if you stick with a certain host but more that the site isn't constantly moving from one place to another because that can give the impression that something is up.

A lot of the spam, nulled, DMCA violators and other sites that the search engines consider bad move often for one reason or another so they might put your site in that same category if they see it moving often.

Google does not care what hosting you use. The problem is that hosting will help speed up your page load. I have been using stablehost for over 2 years now and everything is OK.

I think what matters more is what is on your website and not where it is being hosted and for the length of time it has been hosted there.

Many shared web hosting services will have IP addresses change from time to time for whatever reason so I think that the search engines understand that so there should be no major impact one way or another.

Since most websites are using shared hosting the search engines understand this and accept it.

Google does not care what hosting you use. The problem is that hosting will help speed up your page load. I have been using stablehost for over 2 years now and everything is OK.

No there is no set amount of time. I would just use your best judgement and find a good host and stick with them as long as they are providing what you need.

That's good and always in the best interest of your site. There are many other things that determine whether or not a site is considered a good site by the search engines though.

That is exactly what I am always trying to do. Some times I am afraid of doing something wrong so I try to find out before I do it first.

I completely understand. Heck, sometimes I am afraid to make changes or do things that I am not 100% certain of their end results.

Things get easier over time as you learn more my friend.

I don't believe that it really matter if you stay with your web host for a long time or not. I think maybe the search engines or the web hosts put that information out there so they scare people in to staying with them as long as possible. I think they care about the website content more.

I keep noticing at some times that my blog is going down some times for no reason and they are starting to get slower when they reply to my support tickets. I was also wanting to get different hosting to put up more blogs for other reasons and I think I want to try different hosting service.

It might be getting slower because of your blog. Is the database a large one or does it have a lot of things that could be cleaned up in it?

I have not checked to see how big it is but I don't think it is that big because my blog is not real big.

It can be other things too but that is a common thing that can affect speed other than the web hosting resources you have.

I will check some other things. Right now I do not see anything that could cause this so I must look for the problem.

How I have always looked at this is that I would stay with a host as long as I needed hosting as long as their prices, performance and support were good. If not then I would fin a new web host.
