Affiliate Marketing or Your Own Products?

If you are capable of making a decent product, then you are going to make a lot more money selling your own product than you are going to make with affiliate marketing.

Creating and selling your own products is the ultimate path to prosperity if you are capable of doing it. If you aren't capable of creating your own product, then affiliate marketing is your next best choice. (in my opinion)

Well, for beginners who are new to this business, it's advisable to start with affiliate marketing but as for me, I make money from my own products and from affiliate marketing.

I make a lot more money with affiliate marketing than with my own products. Since I have a wide variety of sites in different niche's it is just easier to use affiliate products and services because I can find affiliate items that are a good fit for just about any niche.

Affiliate products are just much easier for me at this point and always perform well so there isn't much of a need for me to try to market and sell my own products exclusively. Maybe at some point this will change but for now affiliate products just work to well to change.

Between these two I make more money from affiliate products than I do my own. I only have a few things of my own so that is the big reason. Of course having your own means that you get 100% of the sale but selling affiliate products, even though you only get a percentage, is usually better since there is a lot wider variety of products that are available to sell.

I am going to be creating more of my own products and services in the future to do some testing to see what they can do but for now I make more from affiliate products. ;)

What is your main source of income? Affiliate products or your own products?
My main source of income is definitely Affiliate Marketing because I understand Marketing a lot better, and If I was to make my own product it would take very long and I would have to test it out, and then make tweaks to it later on. So it's a long and tedious process. But once you have your own product, you can keep 100% of the commissions just like @ulterios said. And then you can have other affiliates promote your product. It's good to start with affiliate Marketing because then you understand the basics of Marketing and see for yourself what kind of products work the best and then create your own product accordingly. Also once you have your own product, it will be easier for you to sell it because you understand Marketing yourself.

If you allow affiliates to sell your own products and split the proceeds you might have more success. Even though you have your own products, you won't get 100% all the time.

I sell way more than my affiliates do, but if an affiliate is trying and not having a lot of success, I'll toss them sales when I have the opportunity to help get them started.

Well thanks very nice of you. :Thumb:

Most affiliates do not get treated that way by the sellers of the products or services that they are marketing. That's a good way to motivate an affiliate and especially one that is just getting started. I always thought that the hardest part for new affiliates is getting started and their first sale with a new seller. doing something like that can give them a little motivational boost.

That's a very nice thing for you to do for some of your affiliates and I am sure it helps get them pumped up.

Cheers, Dean.

Ive been down both avenues so I will share my piece. From 2010 - 2013 I only did CPA marketing, it was good but I failed to create a long term business. Nothing wrong with CPA but I only did spam methods.
When I got back into the game recently I started out by writing 2 big e-book projects, before I even decided to try CPA again. This way I have my products written, and they are long term projects so I am alot safer to go back into affiliate marketing.

If you have a product or e-book to create, make sure you are spending time on that as well as affiliate marketing.

Were these your first ebooks that you wrote?

I have thought about doing it myself but I just don't know where to start and I don't think I would be that good of a writer. I'm curious how others start out with no experience writing ebooks.

I always would rather sell affiliate items instead of my own. That way I do not have to worry about product creation or any kind of stock to have. I would rather just do the marketing and selling for someone else and get paid for that.

That's a good point and I feel the same way. It's easier to let someone else deal with these aspects and concentrate on just sales and making money.

Same here. I sell my own products but always prefer to sell someone else's products so that I just have to sell them and not worry about anything else.

I would rather let other people come up with the products and all I have to do is market them and promote the products. Just easier IMO.

Affiliate products for me. I would rather make money by selling the products of other people than to have to try to sell my own and worry about losses.

Mine is other peoples products. Maybe later I will try to get going with my own products but it is just easy for me to not worry about my own and just worry about marketing other peoples products.

Normally, I would rather promote affiliate marketing programs as becoming an advertiser is a different story altogether. Agreed you would build an email list of buyers by becoming an advertiser but you can also build the same list by becoming an affiliate. I would only dare to get on the advertiser side of things if I had large chunks of cash else I would not even bother.

Personally, as a starting marketer, my personal source of income as of the moment is through affiliate marketing. I am on the point of not sure with the industry because I'm interested in a lot. I do make my self-be involved with both gadgets and musical products. Innovation is a good thing but I still want myself to be exposed to affiliate marketing. I want to know more about what is lacking and what do the customer want. I will then create my own product when I finally have the plan of combining a product with both technology and music on it and a big chance of satisfying my customers. For now, I will stay in affiliate marketing as my source of income until I am ready to create my own product.

I'm interested too in starting my own ebook. Can somebody here help and give us few pieces of advice? Thanks and very much appreciated!
