Rotating affiliate advertisements

I was doing some research for my upcoming blog and I was looking at Wordpress plugins and saw a couple that were for rotating advertisements.

Is it a good idea to have a couple different affiliate ads and have them rotated in being displayed around your blog?

I was wondering if this was a good idea or not myself because I saw some of those plugins too. I just keep thinking that it might hurt your revenue if people are seeing different things every time they come to your site.

What if they saw something they were a little interested but did not click on the ad then but planned to later and it was not there?

I have often wondered if using these plugins would hurt or help and since I was not sure either way I have just avoided using them or even trying them.

Maybe you could set 1 up and try it for a month and then try it without using it and see how it does.

I have read a little about this subject and one of the main reasons for doing this is that is it supposed to give the people that come to your website more than once a view of something else that they might be interested in.

This way if they are not interested in one thing you are advertising they might be interested in another when they return of go to different pages on your website.

I don't know if it will be better or not but you can always do some kind of tests to see if it does. Maybe you can do it normal for 1 month and then do the rotating for 1 month and compare your results. I am interested in know this for myself too.

This is a good question because a lot of people say that you should leave the same ads up so that your chance increase to make sales because people usually don't buy something the first time they see it so keeping the same ad increase the chances that you would make a sale.

On the other hand if you are showing an ad that they are not interested in then having different ads rotation might increase your chances for a sale so there are some things to consider.

I would probably do some testing if I was considering doing this to see what happens and then go from what the results show you.

I was also worried about them seeing something one time then not again when they were ready to buy.

I might try that and see if it pays off or hurts. Thanks for mentioning that.

I saw something similar to that myself and that is why I asked this here in part.

Then I think that your best option would be to do some testing to see which method will give you the best results that you are wanting.

If you have more than 1 website then you can try both methods. One method on each and see the results.

I saw some of those plugins but I am afraid to use 1 of them because I was thinking it might hurt the money I make on my blog. Maybe you can test it in just 1 ad spot on your blog and see if the results are better or worse.

That is more than likely just what I will do. I would like to know for sure before I do something in each ad spot.

That might be something to consider and a good reason why should should perhaps test it out in 1 ad spot like someone else mentioned.

You can also try setting up another testing blog to see there what will happen. I have been thinking about that myself.

I have read many good answers here but I did not see anyone mentioning that maybe it would be a wise choice to rotate different advertisements for the the or similar products or services but from different advertisers.

If you were showing web hosting advertisements then you could show them from 2 different web hosting companies for an example of this.

Even though I have yet to try doing this on any of my sites I have thought about trying this out. I did some reading on it a while back and based on what I read, doing this works well on some sites and actually hurts others.

What I would do is like was suggested by others here and just start out testing this practice on one ad spot on your site and see how it goes. Then if things show improvement over having static advertisements then try out other locations.

I am planning on test this out on 1 or 2 of my sites and see what happens when I get a chance.

I thought about that but I really don't want to buy a domain name for just that purpose.

When you do that then can you please share your results with that? It might help me decide what to do.

You don't have to buy another one if you don't want. You can make a sub domain from your main one. You can make it something like 'testing.mydomain.com' and that will work. If not then you can get a domain from Namecheap for testing that costs less than 1 Euro.

I wasn't aware of that. I will have to look into doing something like that maybe.

Is that price at namecheap a special or the everyday price?

They have special all the time there for them cheap like that without a code needed. When you try to look at domains then search there will be a tab that shows up saying discounted and that is where you can see many that are cheap.

Well thank you for the tip. I might just go and get one to use for those purposes. Can't beat the price.

I have one that I got for less than $1 dollar that I use for trying things on. They have many different extensions to pick from. It is for the first year only but then you can not renew it and get another cheap again for this same uses.
