How often should I Tweet?

I have seen many that had only 1 or 2 Tweets and have thousands of followers still. That makes it obvious that something is not right there.
That's a good sign that something is wrong. How can someone just get thousands of followers with just 1 or 2 Tweets unless they are some kind of celebrity or well-known person.

It looks especially bad when their 1 or 2 Tweets are just random stuff or random ReTweets of other nobody accounts.

Something smells fishy! ;)

The frequency of tweet depends on the niche in which you are promoting and the activeness of your target audience. Once also check the tweets made by competitors and devise a strategy according to the frequency of tweets made by competitors.

I was thinking that on many different times when I saw some accounts that just looked like they were not posting anything good or only have a couple of Tweets. I have a couple hundred and they are better than theirs and I have only a few hundred followers.

I should just kind of copy what my competition is doing and do the same?

You dont need to post often...you just need to have the right timing and a quality post that may attract your target. Make sure your target audience/market is active in that moment so you will have a great chance to market your product.. like what I said do not post too much, it might irritate your audience and unfollow you... and its not a good thing to happen

I would say at east once a day, but, really, two or three times a day can't hurt. You will figure out your audience there through experimentation, so make sure that you pay attention to patterns in response from your followers, and then try to cater to them as much as possible.

How do I know the best times that my target audience is active?

Is there some easy way to figure that out or do I have to check on the Twitter analytics page of my account?

I tweet once an hour from 9am ET to 10pm ET, so I cover the work hours in all US timezones. I often repeat the content from 9am-12pm in the evening, after 5pm ET, because it's unlikely my PT followers saw it at the crack of dawn. I don't tweet more than 4 or 5 times a day on the weekends because my audience are mostly office workers, and they don't log on much during the weekend, but that's entirely dependent on who your target audiences are.

Of course it depends on the enterprise you're handling, but I'd say tweeting twice a day is the minimun for people to know that you're active. If it's something like a news network, at least once an hour during the day (for example from 7:00am to 7:00pm). If it's a company that sells products, three times a day should do the trick for making enough publicity without annoying your followers.

If you're using your Twitter account for fun or other things not related to marketing, then use it as often as you want. But if you're using it for marketing or for driving traffic, then it is advisable to tweet (a meaningful one, so it could help you with your business) at least once a day. And if you have free times after work, then use that time to send some meaningful tweets. That way you're more likely to achieve targets.

You should first start finding the appropriate time when most of your audience is online. A good way to find this is basically when they start tweeting.

Never make your tweets annoying or spam-looking. This may lead to users unfollowing your account.

Accounts like Wendy's and Mcdonalds Hongkong have recently drawn attention in the online world because of their unorthdox way of advertising. You should be unique and relatable to draw a substantial market from Twitter. ;);)

What about if you are just marketing the content of your blog for now?

I didn't think about that. Seeing when they are Tweeting can probably really help me to know when my followers are online. Great tip.

Hello there, I have another question for you, how often do you update your blog? Is it more than daily? In case it's more than daily you should tweet as often as you upload a new article or a new post on your website. If not what you could do if you update it only once a day, is tweet about the article twice, and maybe promote your older articles in another two tweets. If it's a blog I think 5-6 tweets would easily get the job done.

Cheers!

I only update my blog once or twice a week most of the time. Does that mean that I should post less Tweets?

Most of the time it is the best practice to Tweet whenever you have something to pass on to your followers that is new or maybe something that they haven't seen from you. You do want to be careful not to be seen as a serial tweeter or Spam Tweeter or you will probably lose followers.

I would try to shoot for 4-8 times per day if that is appropriate for your needs with a minimum of at least twice a day to look like you are active and not dormant on the site.

I was looking into the times for doing this myself for my own needs not long ago and I got several different sweet spots for when the best time to Tweet was but in general Tweeting around the lunch time where your target audience is or that general time frame is supposed to be the best time of the day for Tweeting.

This does differ for different needs, audiences and other circumstances but it's a good starting point.

You can also check out your analytics on Twitter to see what times your Tweets are getting the most reTweets and other interactions from people.

you can tweet as many times as possible.I don't think twitter placed any restrictions on the number of times one can tweet.you can tweet and retweet as many times as possible.

If you're going to market on twitter I guess you have to tweet at least every hour but the first thing you have to do in Twitter Marketing is increase your followers and you can do that following and you can expect them to follow back you.

Its up to people how many they want to tweet but dont just troll. On my twitter i only tweet the news and what is trend. Other people tweet as if they had to update people every minute of their doing. Its all up to you. Just think before you tweet.

I think twitter has tweet limits of a less than a thousand tweets per day. You can tweet as much as you want until you reach your tweet limit, but I strongly advice to post just the worthy and important ones so you wouldn't look like a scammer to some other twitter users. It's not necessarily needed for you to reach your tweet limits, it's about the things you tweet that would be interesting to the other users/readers.
