How many affiliate ads per page?

I'll be starting a new blog soon and was wanting to know if there is a certain amount of affiliate ads that are best to have on a blog page. I am trying to get organized before I start my blog so I am making notes on things like this to help me with the layout.

Any guidance will be helpful and appreciated.

Thanks everyone. :D

I do not ever use many since I lost some websites due to Google from ranking.

I usually do a single page per product and my link is in there two to three times. I have no ads in the widgets except for that one product and I do not use other type of ads on my sites.

I also when building a blog or forum do not use affiliate links for 1 to 3 months depending on the site, to give it a good foothold on Google first.

Do I know if my tactics work, I know they work for me.
Did you lose rankings in Google because you had too many affiliate advertisements on your websites?

Should I avoid putting any affiliate ads on mine until it's a few months old?

I usually have 2 or 3 on my blog. I read that it is a good number to have but I have not tried putting more to see if it will make more money. I think if you have too many then it will make your site look like a spam site.

I read on a site somewhere that between 2-3 just the other day so that sounds like it is a recommended amount. Thank you for your post. :D

I really don't know because I am pretty new to internet marketing but wouldn't the amout of content on the pages also have an affect on how many ads you place?

I have seen some blogs use a lot more but I just like to keep mine looking nice and clean without too many ads cluttering up the pages.

That is a good point to mention and I think that is absolutely correct. More text will dictate more images. I just need to find some kind of ratio I think.

I think it might depend on the sizes too. If you have big advertisements then you should do less so it doesn't look like a spam site.

Too many and people who visit your blog can get what is called as ad or banner blindness. Meaning they can consciously or subconsciously ignore your ads. If you place too many this can be one cause of this.

You check check Google for more information on this.

I have heard of that but I am not exactly sure about how to avoid it and what kind of add numbers would cause it. I'll check for more information on it.

Thank you

The more content you have on a page then the more ads you can have within reason. You don't want the page to look like low quality junk so keep it reasonable.

I usually go for around 4 but it can be less or more depending on the content and what looks good.

There is no set amount so I would just go with the amount that looks right.

I saw a blog post on this yesterday I think that said 4 per page also. I will probably use this as a reference point and adjust the amount down if needed if the content of the page is less that I think it would be good for.

You avoid it by not placing too many advertisements on your pages. You can maybe get some good information by searching Google about it to get to know about it better.
