Are paid reviews good?

I had a company contact me through my blog contact form asking if I would be interested in doing a paid review of their product (a fashion item) and I really don't know if it is good to do those or not.

Are paid reviews for products good for you to do on your blog or are they bad?

I wasn't expecting this opportunity to present itself to me so I haven't looked into finding out if paid reviews are good or not.

Any advice will be appreciated. :D

This will depend on what you are considering to be good. If someone is paying you to do a review of something of theirs then they will probably expect the review to be a good one in their favor.

I figured that is what they would want. That's one reason why I don't know if it's good to do them or not.

Paid review is good if any only it tends to be honest. You should let the company know that you have an audience, and that you are only willing to provide an honest review of the product.
I'll probably say something along those lines to them. All I told them was that I would think about their offer and get back to them in a few days.

It depends. If the thing that they want reviewed is good and you can give them an accurate review that they are happy with then it will all work out.

If the thing is not good and they still want a good review then you will have to choose to give them what they want or you will have to tell them that you will not do a review that is not honest.

Did they say if they wanted an honest review or did they not specify that?

I think that if they are paying someone for a review then they are going to want something that is favorable for them so if that's what they want even if the product or service is not good then you would have to decide if you are willing to give them what they want or not.

People, companies and websites that pay for reviews are always going to want good reviews. Why would they want to pay for a bad review?

So if you know of their product/s or service/s and know that it/they are good and your review would be one that they like then go ahead and do an honest review and make the money.

If you don't know how the review is going to turn out then you need to let them know your thoughts and what your intentions are and see what they say.

Sometimes even a negative review can still point out not only the bad but the good points as well so it can be a win, win situation.

I would talk to them and let them know what you think and see exactly what they want or expect.

They didn't say anything about what they expected in the review. They are probably wanting something that is good for their reputation.

I figured they would want a good review since they were going to be paying for it. I think I am just going to have to talk to them and get more information about what they might be expecting or wanting and then make my decision based on their response.

I think that paid reviews will be good unless they don't pay you after you do the review because they don't like the review.

Paid reviews can be a good way to make money but it usually works best to be consistent with your reviews and always try to be honest and accurate with them. This will gain the trust and respect of your followers/readers.

It's good to setup some guidelines that you go by when doing your reviews and let anyone know who wants to pay you for a review that those are what you follow. That way there is no misunderstanding and everyone knows your procedures.

As long as you aren't selling your honesty for the paid review then they are good I would say. I mean if someone wants to pay you for an honest review of something to get them some publicity that I don't see any bad there myself.

Yeah paid reviews are good because you are getting something up front for your post and they might get you some extra traffic.

I am really choosy when it comes to paid reviews. I always prefer to review some good and fastest growing companies. Recently I have done a paid review of a email marketing company. They offer me a free account to test their system. I really like them and write a review of them on my blog. They paid me on the next day, when the article go live. So, paid reviews won't hurt you, if you choose right company.

That's a good idea, thanks. I think that guidelines can help that way if more people contact me I can send those to them so they know what to expect.

What if it's a smaller company that you don't know if it has good products or services? Should I stay away from those?

Sure because it is another way to make money. You just have to give honest reviews so your readers will trust you and respect your opinions. You can become a well trusted authority in your niche.
