Can I use my email list in a different niche?

I have only a small email list and was thinking about using it for a different niche than what it was created for. Does anyone know if that is a good or bad idea?

They were all sign-ups from my blog in case that makes any kind of difference.

I really don't see why you can't use your email list in a different niche than what it was created for.

The only thing is that your conversion rates are probably not going to be very good if the other niche is drastically different from the niche the email list was originally built for.

I was thinking that it might not produce much success but since I don't already have one dedicated for that niche then I thought about using the one I have since it's not real drastic a difference of niches.

Sure you can.

What is your current niche and what are you wanting to promote?
The email list is for cooking and I was wanting to possible use it for a home and garden niche. They are not real different and I think that a lot of the same people might be interested but I am just not sure if it's a good idea or not since the list was not built for that purpose.

I think that it will be ok since they signed up on your blog as long as you didn't say anything about the list being only for this or that.

It didn't say what the niche or topic was anywhere in the signup form. I was just a basic email signup without much details.

Yeah you can use your email list for another niche than what it was created for but you will have to expect that any kind of conversions, clicks, etc. will probably be a lot lower if the niche is very different from what it was created for.

It depends on what audience your list was built for and what type of audience the new niche is targeting. As an example, if you built the list for the fishing niche and then wanted to use the list for an investment niche then you probably won't get much good come of using that same list.

It doesn't really hurt to try it in another niche though. What do you have to lose? ;)

Well they are not to far apart I think so I might go ahead and try it since I already have the list. I just didn't want people to be upset for getting emails for materials that they didn't think that they were getting.

You might as well give it a try. I doubt the people on the list will care unless you told them specifically what the emails would be for.

I didn't say anything about what exactly the emails would be for. I guess I can give it a shot and see what happens.

In that case I think you will be ok to use it for other niches. Since the emails would come from you and they signed up from you then it should be ok.

The more I think about it the more I think it will be ok. It's not like it was a list I obtained somewhere else.

If the people signed up on your site and you didn't say specifically what you would be emailing them about then I don't think it will be a problem so go ahead and use the list.

If you made no specific statement or promise as for what your emails would be for then I do not think there will be any kind of issues for using your list in another niche than you made it for.

Since the people subscribed to your list themself I think that you can use it for another niche but you might get a lot of people to unsubscribe if they are not interested in the new things.

That's one thing that i'm afraid of. I don't want everyone to unsubscribe and lose my whole list that I have built up.

Maybe you can test it with a small part of your list and see what happens. You might be worrying for nothing.
