What are the best affiliate products to sell these days?

I am just starting to learn more about affiliate marketing and I was wondering what the best affiliate products are to sell these days. I am especially interested in which would be best for someone with a limited knowledge of them. I know a little but not that much compared to most on this site probably.

Any thoughts, tips, pointers or anything useful will be gladly appreciated.

I think their are two main approaches.

The First:

You should probably sell something you believe in or you are interested in. If you don't believe in it, it's going to be much harder to convince the customer to purchase it.

I personally, would sell something that I use myself, If I use something, it's easier to sell. When I owned a pet food store, I always was able to easily sell the product that I believed in the most without issue. I was able to talk to it, I was able to tell the customer why this product is superior. Being the owner and I was feeding my dogs this particular food told the customer I believed in it.

The Second:

If you have an audience or purchased an audience, I will sell to that audience interest. Say you bought a popular site on "Heartburn", even though I don't have heartburn and really had no interest in it, but since I have the audience, I well sell products they might need (Anti-acids, Special Heartburn Recipe Books, Elevated Wedge Pillows, etc)

I wouldn't try to sell something just because other people are selling it, that's not a good enough reason for me.

So then if my site is about one thing in particular then should I only target marketing things that are in the same fields or is it ok to throw in some general items that do not pertain to the material of the site? I'm just trying to do a little planning so that I can get organized as to where to start.

I think you should try to sell what's going to make you the most money, not what you think is going to make you the most money.

When I owned that pet food store, I would bring a new item in, thinking it was awesome that people would buy this. But in the end, I'm the only person that thought it was awesome. Now, I had an item just wasting shelf space. Wasting shelf space is the last thing you want, all space must produce, you either give it away, toss it out, or mark it down to the point that someone buys it. So you can reclaim that space.

So when you market something to your audience that's not related, you might be wasting "Shelf Space". Whether that's in the form an an "AD", your "Time", or just "CPU Cycles".

If you have an audience and you know the interest of that audience and you can't figure out things to market to them, then that's where you failed as a marketer. You're not doing your research.

You need to know the "Who", "What", "Where", "When" and "Why"

As with the heartburn example.

What causes heartburn? Stomach acid that washed up in your throat.
Why does this happen? Because the flap between the stomach and your throat is not closing properly.
When does this happen? After eating foods that trigger your stomach to produce a lot of acid or when laying down.
Where does this happen? Everywhere, but mainly at night when laying flat.
Who does this happen to? You're audience.

Now that you know the 5 w's. Research each of the 5 w's and market solutions for them .

Relief - Ant acids, PPI Pills, Medication.
Prevention - Elevated Beds, Stop Eating Trigger Foods, Special Diets, Losing Weights.
Cure - Surgery

Now focus on products that offers one or more of the solutions above.

For example "Losing Weight" - What helps you lose weight (Exercise, Diet stuff , Supplements) - So many things to sell for this.

Ties these items back the the original interest of the users.

These people are actively looking for a solution to their issues, most will try just about anything to solve a problem that's causing them or a loved one discomfort.

You as the marketer, needs to know your audience, know their interest, and provide things that help them accomplish what they are interested in.

Nice example, I like this one especially since I see so many websites and marketers that are pushing JUST the "Diet Stuff" like diet pills and so on. They never think that some people who are interested in losing weight might want to do it using other means like exercise. They are so quick to try to market just the magic pills instead of trying to have other options available to cover a wider range of needs that are in the same basic topic.

I really liked this example because I have seen way to many people limiting themselves these days and have always noted this myself. :Thumb:

Cheers, Dean.

The three biggest industries where people are making the most amount of money are Health, business opportunities(make money online opportunities), and Dating. If you were to choose and promote a product that belongs to one of these categories, you will make decent amount of money unless you are a very good marketer then you will probably make a lot more money. If you are a beginner, I would recommend you choose a product from one of these categories because if you were to pick a product that has a little audience such as "growing plants" product, then you would have to spend more time and money to look for people that are interested in that product. The only down part of Health, Business opportunities, and dating is that these categories have a lot of competition. Good Luck!

Funny that you should mention losing weight as an example. I see ads for those kinds of products everywhere. I am guessing it's because they are a very profitable field.

I hear you about what you think is going to make you the most money and what IS going to make you the most money. Too many times I have thought that myself with different things then only to be disappointed.

Thanks for the help. I am still learning a few things but getting there.

Dating is still one of the big ones? That was one of the big ones years ago around the web so I would have though it would have dropped due to so much info found around the web.

Thanks for the tips. This kind of information is very good for taking notes.

Yes dating products have gone down because there are hundreds of videos on youtube teaching people how to pick up women but I have come across some people that have youtube channels on dating but they still sell paid products where they go in depth teaching people about dating. So the dating market is still enough to be made money from.

I guess people will find a way to always make money in this area. What kind of products do they sell? Are these things like digital items like ebooks and things like that?

The person that I came across recently was selling a dating product where he call coach people and gives them word to word script that they could say to women. And for a high ticket product, he would take his clients out with him and show them how to talk to women. He does this by purposefully engage his clients with women to build confidence in them. This is what I have found out from his sales video so I am not sure how he actually coaches people. eBooks have become kind of stale in the dating niche because people now days can just watch free videos on youtube and get what they wanted to get. But there are still people who are making a bank selling eBooks because they are genius marketers.

Does he sell this service from a website of his or does he go out and market the service on the social media site or something?

I have seen a few dating ads lately and some of them are higer priced so they probably pay their affiliates well I would think.

So that was his own product/service or was that an affiliate service?

It's quite interesting. I did not even know there was such a service.

He posts videos on youtube and then drive traffic to his website from youtube. This is because on youtube, there are more people searching for dating advice.

The best products to sell can be different for each person. It is going to depend on your methods, what niche your site is in (if you have one), who you are targeting your selling to and many other factors.

I would make sure that you have a website or blog about something that you know about and/or are passionate about and then find the products that will best fit the type of audience you are getting based on the niche of that site.

Products or services that are closely related to the topic of the site are usually always going to be the ones that sell the best because your site's visitors are obviously interested in that topic.

If you are not going to have a site then I would target selling products or services that are about/of something that you know about. It will make the selling process easier if you know about what you are trying to sell.

Good luck. ;)

I did not even know people looked on youtube for dating advice. That would make sense though since it would be better to watch a video than to read about it in a blog post I guess.

I guess having stuff that is very similar to what the site is about is best. I just didn't know if there was something in particular these days that sells no matter where you sell it.

Well, web hosting services seem to do well on just about any type/niche a site is. Other than that usually services that most people would use/like/be interested in do well.
