Several things go into securing a online store.
A) Secure website. You need to make sure your site is properly built. If it is built on a platform (Wordpress, NopCommerce, etc) you need to make sure all updates are applied as soon as they are released. If the site is a custom build, you need to make sure you hired a quality developer that knows how to handle these things for you.
B) Use a SSL certificate, preferably a EV (Extended Validation) SSL. A lot of people don't want the extra expense, but they do secure your site and give customers more confidence. Well worth the money!
C) Make sure your hosting is secure. If you are processing, transmitting, or storing credit card info on your site, it must be PCI compliant.
