Does article marketing still work?

If you're willing to pump out a lot of articles then it will work. Simply select a few directories and upload content on them daily, send some traffic to those articles and get some shares. The more traffic you send to an article, the higher it ranks on the directory and that's when you start milking the traffic.
This might sound weird because you gave the directory content so that they send you traffic, so why would you send them traffic? Look at it this way, if you're going to rely on the directory to send you traffic then you might as well go and play the lottery. You need to give it just a small push not tons of traffic.
There's still a lot of webmasters who go to article directories to get content and that will bring you traffic and you also get organic backlinks. When your articles rank high they have a better chance of getting picked up by webmasters who need content.
You also get more love from the directory, they feature some of your content and you get some awards and other stuff which will result in more traffic.
But the sad part is that you won't get that with 5 or even 20 posts, you need to be a content machine and target different directories. Article marketing does work but these days it requires a lot of hard work to make it bring in positive results. It's not easy but it's possible.
