How did you choose an Affiliate Program?

Word out on the internet is that Affiliate Programs are a good way to make money online. I would like to know how you chose the best Affiliate Programs for you to get good commissions or simple to get more sales from them.

Any shares?

A good place to start with while making considerations is to find out if the product being pitched is viable on the long run.

Avoid being drawn into so called High Payouts or Big Commissions. Go for products that may have a lower payout but pay off more in the long run as opposed to a product that has to be sold once with 80% of a commission going to you.

There are a couple of important things that I look for when I am looking to join an affiliate program. First and most importantly, does the program have products or services that will be easy to sell and that are in demand. You want to be selling something that people want or need.

Next, what kind of commissions do I get for my sales and efforts. If making sales is only going to net me very little then it's really not worth the time when there are other affiliate programs out there that will net higher profits.

Then there's seeing what the payment form are (how I would be paid) and when I would get paid for the sales I make. Some affiliate programs can make you wait an unreasonable time to actually get the money from your sales efforts.

There are a few other things that I look at when thinking about joining an affiliate program but these are the three big ones that I look at first.

It's more about what you can easily sell, you really can't go by marketplace stats. They don't depict the true sales of what's selling.

For instance, Clickbank, only show sales affiliate makes. I can make 100000 sales, but it won't even register in their market place. Now If I created an affiliate ID in Clickbank and then sold my own products, I would rocket my stats in clickbank to the first page in popularity.

I did a few tests with a few affiliates and made a bunch of sales for 3 different people, tossed them all 2-3 sales, in 2 days. By tossing 7 sales to affiliates and not myself, I raised my ranking from the back of the pile to 26th overall in software in services in 2 days by tossing sales. If I tossed sales for a month, I would probably rank #1 in overall sales. So those market place stats really don't show what's selling or not selling.

So when you do affiliate marketing, you can sell multiple products, it's not a one and done, just collect the email addresses and build that relationship with the clients and then offer them multiple products, products that pay well and products that don't pay well, it doesn't really matter, revenue is revenue. It's the strategy on how you go about it, that makes you successful or not.

Always capture the email (the most important thing) - Know your buyers and market to those buyers.

So if someone buys something from you then does that make it ok to keep and use their email address? I mean they bought and gave the email freely so it should be fine right? Maybe put that in the TOS?

I choose them based on if I think that I will be able to sell that companies products and if I will make enough money from it that it makes it worth my time.

I choose affiliate programs based on a few important things. Some are, will I be able to market and sell these products based on my mailing lists, the niches the programs are in and how well a good amount of money will be able to be made from them?

I don't look at just the commission amount because sometimes the larger commissions are fewer and far between versus some lower commission items that would be easier to sell and for a larger quantity. Sometimes you can make real good money by selling a lot of the lower items, so you can't just look at the commission amounts.

There are some other factors that I look at and they are based on what type or products and/or services the program offers. Each program that I consider is researched and evaluated before I go ahead and join a program.

Cheers, Dean.

To be a doing well affiliate marketer, you have to to choose and help the right goods on your blog. 76% of new affiliate marketers fail to earn wealth from affiliate marketing purely because they do not choose the right product to promote.

When I am trying to decide on what affiliate programs I want to join I look at their products or services then try to figure out if they are going to be easy to sell. I see how much demand and how popular those things are and then if they seem like they will be good to try to sell and the commission is good then I will give them a try. :)

How do you capture their email addresses if you have affiliate advertisements?

I always try to pick the ones that I have a better chance to make sales with. I tried using just the higher paying programs but there are not too many sales so I was making less money with them.
