What type of hosting are you using free or paid?

I'm using a paid host from HG and LN, what about your hosting?

What type of hosting are you using free or paid?

If it's free then can you give me reasons why you chose paid services instead of using free?

I chose paid simply because I know that most free web hosts are spammy, other hosts will even create popup ads on your website. This will look spammy to your visitors, especially if the Ad is not related to the content, so you might lose a lot of traffic.

Even paid web host companies like Hostgator, JustHost etc. are crap as well, more especially when you start to receive about 500 visitors a day. Your website starts becoming slow, as you grow your website and get about 700 visitors a day, then you'll start to get a lot of downtime (your website will be offline mostly).

So for a small/new website then companies like Hosgator are OK (not recommended though). Even if you're using paid hosting, make sure you're not hosting with any EIG company (google EIG company list to find them).

Jeez, the last time I used Free Hosting was in 2002; I utilized Lycos for a small game that I was programming. Back then, it was a logical option to utilize a free host, as the restrictions and procedures utilized today weren't exactly widely recognized back then so you got a pretty decent service. These days however, you've got to pick and choose to find the right host for your project. As @Nytshade said, it's not recommended to utilize any EIG Brand hosting company, might I recommend the offers section of this forum?

I use free because I have no way of paying for paid hosting. I'd much rather having paid because I get more from it but I use what I can get for now :p

What type of website are you running, and how come you're not generating any kind of revenue from it? Paid hosting isn't that expensive ($3.99 per month of $33 per year).

There are simply too many limitations that the majority of free web hosting service imposes on its users, not to mention the ads. I've used free hostings in the past for non-serious discussion forums, but that's it. All my clients are using Hostgator, I personally use Namecheap because they are quite cheaper than Hostgator, and I like their level of customer support.

I used paid VPS from Digital Ocean because I love the performance, my blog speed is much more better..! I love it..
I tried unamaged VPS from DO but when I tested its speed then it was slower than other VPS providers thus I didn't go with it.

May be it suits your requirements.

Is that really, man..?

I tested that with Hostgator hosting (512 MB RAM), I found that DO is better. Sure, I agree. OD is unmanageable VPS because you'll to experience with Linux server...

I use Paid hosting because of your data will be at lest safer then free hosting provider. Paid service run for longer time and they will be able to give you a good support.

With free hosting you will not get care. Your site data can be removed even by a single complain.

Exactly I have never used free hosting for my blog sites, it has more risks if you want something free.

Try to search for other cheap web hosting packages that offer the applications needed for the web site.

Look at your current usage and double it at least, triple is even better because coming half way through the month and running out of bandwidth is probable the worst thing you can do for your website, your users will probable desert you, if they see it isn’t online for a day or two.

I'm glad to find hostingsource ssd vps - they are offering 50% off the price on 1st month order.
According to my experience, this hosting company has been rock solid from the beginning.

Yeah I used free hosting in the past but to be honest I could not do any thing I wanted hence I have to change to paid hosting and feel more convenient with good features from paid ones.

I am looking for hosting company now and I see so many bad things about free hosting company.
If it is bad I do not know why do people like to use it. It is better to have good paid hosting that is lower cost then bad free hosting.

Yes, there are some bad things about free hosting but I am sure they aren't all bad. I have never used free hosting though, so i'm not speaking from experience.

I just prefer to use paid since it gives me more control over the aspects of my sites and what is on them. There are so many good and inexpensive hosting companies these days that unless you really need to save the money, there's no good reason to use the freebies other than to maybe do some testing.

Cheers, Dean

I did some looking around at both free and paid hosting and to be completely honest, the free hosting services just do not compare to the paid services. Even if you get a cheap paid hosting service, they are usually better than the free services.

I read some of the terms and conditions of the free hosts and they always have extra catches that can come back to haunt you later. I would go paid. :)

I would stay away from free web hosts. Most of them have limited features, are unreliable,... I have researched many of these free web hosts past year. Some are even worse than you expect.
For example 000webhost got hacked last year and lost a lot of sensitive data. A hacker used an exploit in an old, unpatched version of PHP to upload malicious files and gain access to the service's systems. Not only was the full database containing the usernames, passwords and email addresses compromised, but this information has been dumped online.
