Hey Guys,

Who said it was better? It all depends on how much contribution and effort you put into it... For example no one appreciates spam commenting on a forum or blog.... In addition it all depends on how much traffic the web resource get... A great comment on a blog post which is ranking high and gets tons of traffic will yield better results than a forum which no one uses... Besides commenting on forums and blogs etc will not help your website rankings as in general those comments and links posted are nofollow....

If you want to do serious off-page stuff - then focus on SEO techniques such as guest articles or PBNSs...

I'd admit that I've got the same opinion to him...!

Forum is nothing different from social media and blog commenting. It is the best for building community, and interact with other people.

The few marketers did the mistakes with marketing their business because they expect traffic from forums and social media while they didn't spend the time for build relationship.

I made a lot online sales through Facebook and forum posts because I did well with building relation.

Thus, the recommend is you can do various of Forums and social media activities. However, what you have to keep in mind is relationship...

Forum posts are never the better compared to other off page techniques. Forums only help to generated a handful of traffic through signature links. They never contribute to link building.

Forum posting can be good depending on the forum that you are posting on, the amount of traffic the forum receives, if they have dofollow links/signature as well as some other factors.

BUT forum posting isn't better than all off-page SEO activities. Backlinks for example are extremely important for the rankings of a website.

Cheers, Dean.

Hmm... strange. In my case the co-workers said that social sites are not necessary better than forum posting cuz it will require difference strategies. Forum posting is seem to be more common and newbie friendly as they said. But yeah I agree that forum posting is not 100% better cuz it can easily become oppurtunity for spamming.

I don't know if forum posting is really better but it can help get you seen and help build a following and some familiarity with people. Some people don't realize how many people visit forums so posting on forums can get you seen by a lot of people easily. :Good:

I agree with you, it also depends on the forum. Some of them do not allow to post link or put no-follow link, it would be useless to increase rank and get traffic.

Forum posting isn't always better than some of the other promotion and marketing methods, it will depend greatly on the forum that you are posting on.

There are a lot of junk and spam filled forums out there that have no real quality members to market/promote to. If a forum has nothing but spammers and junk posts on it then the good quality members will not join or if they do then they will be less active.

Forum posting can be great but make sure that your efforts are being made on a quality forum like this one. ;)

forum and blog commenting activities are effective when you share useful information without any spam activities.
Very true but it seems like there are always too many forum members that just think that spamming is going to do them good. Maybe one day the spammers will realize that they will get better results for their goals without spamming.

Cheers, Dean.

Same with the items we can find on Google, forums can be very entertaining and overwhelming at the same time. You can easily be lured to read on about the topic that interests you. As you go deeper and learn more, you'll notice that there is so much information out there. Just be careful not to get derailed from your focus.

I will have to say, forums just have a kick to it compared to Google, you can ask, react, reply or interact with people on the same/related topic. That's the best part. :D
