Are free advertising credits on Adwords and Bing really free?

I have a couple of codes for advertising on Bing Advertising and Google Adwords for free credits. Are the credits really free or is there some catch that you will have to pay for them at some point for some reason?

The promotional or free credit coupons provided by Google Adwords and Bing ads are not fully free. You have to intially deposit some amount to it. For example recently I get email from Google adwords for free 150 coupon. That means that I have to deposit $150 first and than Google add another $150 to it. So, its not completely free.

Another thing to point out is that many of the advertising credits coupon codes are for new advertiser accounts and not existing accounts.

There are both types of codes out there but many that you find are for new accounts to help get people to try out their advertising.

It is usually very rare to find something of value that is truly completely free. I would read the fine print on the offer and see if there is some kind of catch. It's probably something like the guy in the first reply said. They probably want you to match the amount they give you or something like that.

Read the conditions of the offer to make sure that you know what you are getting.

So they basically just want you to match what they are giving you for free and then you get the whole amount to use on advertising with them?

I have not used either of them yet so I would still be new. I have been meaning to try them out but just have not gotten around to it.

I will check to see if there is fine print or some kind of terms for the offer. Thanks

It is free in a way that you link your credit card, that is how it works. Also, I would suggest you to not go with coupons as they are of no use. Ultimately you will need to spend money to break even.
So the coupons are basically worthless? Are they just trying to lure you in to spend your real money?

Exactly, When you cross the amount than the credit will automatically added to your account. Google doing this to encourage marketers to promote products using Adwords. The initial deposit keeps system out of spam as well.

Great, thanks for the info. :D

I can understand them not wanting spam ads showing up since that might cause them to lose good quality advertisers that do not want to be in the same group as spam advertisements.
