How does it feel having no visits to your website?

Hello everyone,

I have recently put up a website to market my products but there is very little traffic to the site.
I feel frustrated and that I have wasted money and time putting it up.
What are your feelings about having a website nobody visits?

Please share and thanks.

I left my day job acrimoniously and hoped that by putting up a website, I would immediately start getting a lot of traffic and making a lot of money. Shock on me.

It was painful visiting the site every other minute and noting no one was buying my products or making enquiries.

With time, I discovered Search Engine Optimization, Social Media interaction, niche specific blogging, site sales automation and Internet Marketing.

I learnt the hard and painful way that you have to plan, choose a niche, market and blog continuously in order to get traffic and make money. The biggest lesson of all was that it takes time, hard work and money.

Had tons of those types of sites, still do once in a while. Just stick to it, might have to go the pay for traffic route if you really believe in your products and site. Good luck and if I can be of any help let me know.

I know you personally so I can say this, you never give it a chance. You close it within the first week of opening it because you expect it to take off immedately. I can understand how you feel but trust me it does take time.

I help you but you demoted me for some reason. I was having net problems everywhere. Hence the reason I wasn't online here either.
I am glad you gave up shutting it down though that helps alot if you leave it open to the public you'll eventually get more guests and some will join

Like everyone else, I get frustrated. Had some side projects that weren't generating traffic.

Just like everything else in life. You take on the challenge and work hard to make it a success.

Make the frustration become the drive to success and if not successful... You learned, fought, and ready for the next challenge.

It's sad I think to not get much traffic you put your heart and soul into. But such as life, one must move on. I keep my forum because I still enjoy posting my writing on it, and sometimes I get a hit or two from one of my members that likes to write too. It's too pretty to take down, so I just leave it up and enjoy it when I can.

Being active on social media, niche specific forums and blogs may help a lot. Maybe you could try targeting people through Facebook, testing the ad and then go into Facebook campaign.

Unfortunately, many people believe that just by putting the website out there it will instantly bring in tons of traffic however, that's really not the case, you need to either buy an aged domain or build your own authority fist. You can't expect to be trusted if nobody really knows you. Build your audience, build trust and then you will get the traffic and sales.

Remember that people need about 7 exposures before making the buying desition, this is why a facebook fan page is so good, people see your brand over and over and get mentalized that you are there and have something to offer that could potentially help them, now all you have to do is share really great stuff in order to build trust.

It's not that easy, it takes time and you've got to get the work done, however if you stick with your site long enough it will start to have more and more exposure and chances to attract traffic by many different means. e.g. organic traffic through SEO, social media or direct traffic.

It feels really crappy when you are just starting and you are not getting the traffic that you want but, stick with your site and share great content, you'll eventually get the exposure that you want. And make sure to build your links from trusted sites!

Hope this helps you and have an amazing day :)

Like many things, people think starting a website and expecting it to grow, become popular, earn money and so on is a do it and forget it deal. It's NOT!

Having a website or blog is hard work most of the time. Either for the owner or those he/she entrust with the site.

Once you have built a website or blog, you then need to market it and let people know it is there. Social media works well for this but there are other things that you can do like guest posting on other sites, forum marketing, PPC or other advertising and so on.

Once you have your site out in the world and more and more people know about it, it will be easier and you won't have to spend quite so much work as when it was new.

It takes time. I have been building sites for over 15 years and have had a few that took years to build an audience. It depends on your niche, your competition and how much time you put into it.

On my main training site for instance, it took, me over a year to get the first sale. That was really discouraging when you realize that it takes about 15 hours of development for a single hour of a video tutorial. I have a couple training packages that are over 20 hours in length. Do the math that is a lot of work done in FREE time, to get a production. I also have a couple hundred hours of videos on the site and YouTube that anyone can watch for FREE. It is all part of growing the site.

It will come, like anything else you have to build a brand and support the customers that you do get. That support, if it is good, will generate more leads and eventually it will grow. Have patience, that is the key. If you know your subject, treat the people that you do get well, and update the site and constantly improve the content, it will grow.

Creating a new website and getting very little traffic can sometimes be something that can make you start to second guess your decision to create that website. The key is to stick with it and make sure that you start marketing it as soon as possible and then to continue to market it and things will pick up, unless you do something bad. ;)

Getting traffic and especially a good amount of traffic for a new site can be a lot of work in the beginning. You just have to stand firm with your marketing efforts and put in extra time if needed in the beginning to get the site jump started along it's way to getting an acceptable amount of traffic.

With new websites a continued marketing effort will help it get off the ground much quicker than building the site and waiting for traffic to start showing up. If you believed enough in your idea to create the new site then believe in it enough to put in the marketing efforts to help it become a success. ;)

I have been through that myself and I have to say that I didn't like it at all. If you put your time into building a website and people don't show up to see it then it can be a big downer.

I know that feeling unfortunately. You just have to keep on going and promoting your site properly and it will all turn around at some point. Hopefully more sooner than later.

True. I think that a lot of people just give up too soon after maybe a couple of weeks of trying and just write it off as a failure. Got to be persistent when you think you should not be!

Yes, there are too many people out there that think that all they have to do is create a website and the traffic will just start to pour in. They do not realize that owning your own website and making it successful is actually a lot of work.

You are right and I think if many people really did know how much work a website can be then they might not want to make one.
