I have a business online and would like to have a listing on LinkedIn. Which of the options should I take? Company Page or Personal Profile?

Thanks for your advice.

Look at the short overview below to help you make up your mind

Company Profile:
This is the place to include information and create updates about the business and industry. Here, you are able to communicate as a business rather than as an individual.

Personal Profile:
This one is similar to a resume where you add information about yourself and your job history. Profiles are used to build networks by connecting with people with whom you share professional or personal relationships.

The profile enables you to connect with employees, colleagues and other professionals in your community. It enables you join and create groups that are relevant to your professional goals and interests

You have the option of linking your profile to your company page, sharing content, post job openings and keeping people up to date with everything you have happening.

Groups:
These can either be Public or Private, created by an individual or a company. Groups allow users to come together to talk about specific subjects on one page.

A small business owner can use any or all of these features to promote a business and build a professional network.

You should have both. A business page is something that implies itself. Through your personal account, you can promote your business as well.

If you are promoting a business then in this case Linkedin Company page is good for you because linkedin profile are for only professional use only or for individual person and if you will submit your business as a linkedin profile then in this case linkedin can also penalize your account.

Since you are wanting to have this for your online business then I would recommend using a company page rather than a personal profile. A personal profile is intended to be for you personally and not for a business. That's not to say that you can't use one for that but that's not usually the best choice for an online business.

A business page is best for this use as it represents your online business as a whole and not just you as a person. These would be the best option for your particular needs. ;)

Since this is for an online business then a business page would most likely be the better option to use. A personal profile is supposed to be for you as a person and not for a business.

That's true Maria but I have often seen people use their personal profile for their company profile especially when it's a small company of a single owner company.

I always preferred a company page as it looks more professional IMO. ;)

Well if it is a small company then I guess it can be ok but I still think a company page looks more appropriate.

One thing to consider if you would ever think about using a personal profile over a company page is that a personal profile might make your company look small-time, new or low quality.

Some people perceive things like that because the more formal way would be to use a company page.

Just something to consider.

Cheers, Dean.
