Moving domain from http to https will increase rankings?

Is that true or not?

I found that more websites changed to https but didn't know they are getting good results from SERPs or not?

Any one confirms?

Google is pushing for everything to use https (website secured with a SSL)
They have already release plans to update Google Chrome to include a "Insecure website" alert on all http websites.

Whither or not https are getting better rankings, I do not know, but I'm sure it is coming!

As far as I understand the impact is marginal...

To date I've yet to read any solid evidence of moving to https which has improved rankings.. G has stated its one factor - but thats one factor out of approx. 200... In my opinion https will only have an impact if your website collects personal/sensitive data i.e. e-commerce sites order form etc...

Seriously why would you need https for a standard web page which simply displays content?

Moving domain from HTTP to HTTPS is good because Google tends to give better positioning for the website using HTTPS. As Google wants to encourage webmasters to switch to HTTPS hence, Google has included it as its rank signal. Shifting from HTTP to HTTPS is also good because it encrypts the data which is necessary for e-commerce transactions.

Google has stated that it uses https as a very minor ranking factor so you probably won't really get any kind of noticeable rankings improvement.

It would probably make a difference if your site and another were identical in rankings and yours had https but other than that I wouldn't expect a big rankings improvement.

It is true that Google is pushing sites that are HTTPS enabled. But that does not mean that you can rank your site. There are other factors as well which is consider for ranking in Google. HTTPS alone cannot rank your site.

I don't think that switching to https will give you a big help in rankings now but maybe later when Google makes it a big ranking factor it might. It can hurt you if you don't do the 301's to the https from the http corectly.

At some point Google is probably going to be penalizing site that don't have https and at that point it will have an impact on your rankings. As on now there is not a big plus one way or another but it might be a good idea to make the switch when it's possible.

I am planning on switching most of mine in the near future just to be ready.

I have read this on Google that moving from http to https could help a site ranked better on search engine. So I think the answer is in the positive.

Though I believe that the impact might be too insignificant to be noticed. It is still good to do what will help one's site rank better.

It definitely does. Google has always considered security as one of their top priorities, and it's only natural for unprotected websites to be penalised for the lack of security measures. Plus, as mentioned before, they have stated so themselves.
Still, I believe it not to be as influential as other criteria. After all, it's a yes/no parameter, and it will maybe put a website above the other if they're on par with other SEO factors, but I don't think it's capable of reversing search results.

Google has been trying to get all websites, especially those that have logins, to make the switch to HTTPS for security reaons over the last several years.

Part of the way for them to do that is to make HTTPS a ranking factor so that will help to serve to motivate people to want to make the switch.

So, having your site use the HTTPS protocol will help it in it's rankings but it's still just a small part of their rankings so you will not see huge rankings improvements just from it's use, YET.

In the future people expect it to be a bigger ranking factor and have more of an impact in rankings and the SEO of any given website that uses it.

It's not just good to use for an improvement in rankings but also for helping to make a site more secure. If you allow people to login, have an ecommerce site, or have any other operation of your site that collects sensitive data from users then using the HTTPS protocol is a good idea to help make sure all information that is transmitted is secure.

I thought https was just a protocol and was not related to increase in page rank. I don't have https, in order to use this protocol I will have to install security certificates such as SSL, and it cost money. I hear it is also available as fre but I don't know whether the free version is as good as the paid version.
