How effective is Google Display Network?

I have a question. Does Google Display Network work for anybody here?

In my experience, the Google display network does not work for sending buying traffic directly to your offer. The search network is excellent for doing that if you properly select your keywords. But the display network does not work like that at all in my experience.

Google Display Network advertising is a lot like Facebook advertising and should be used in a similar fashion. (Based on my experience.)
