Custom forum theme or using default style?

I came across some forums and found that some are using custom theme and some using default style, they didn't change anything from the default.

in your point of view, which is better, a custom forum or default theme?

I'd rather have a custome theme. 99.9% of the time, the default theme isn't very attractive in my opinion.
