Do you use a slider on your Wordpress blog?

I will be making a new blog soon and I was seeing some themes that had a slider feature that looked really nice. I did not have one on my old blog but I was considering this feature with my new coming blog but I read some things that said that an image slider can cause your blog to load slowly. Is this true?
Sometime it can make your blog load slower but I think it probably matter more on what the image sizes are and not the fact that you have a slider.

If you are using images that are large file sizes then the theme needs to load those so it is just like having too many images slowing down your loading times.

If my images that I use on the slider are optimized then will that help solve that problem?

It can help but just because the images are optimized that doesn't mean it will help a lot if they are still big sizes of space. You have to look at how many kb or mb they are. If it is a lot then it will still be slow.

Thank you for that information. I will remember to check my images.

As everyone said, I totally agree that if you really want to include a slider in your blog, in order to be attractive and eventually to captured as many readers or viewers, you must load a small file size. I believe in that way, your blog will be loaded faster and at the same time a pleasing to the eye.

Everything they have said is absolutely true. Just find the best images with small file size.

I have tried out using a slider a few times but I did not like how the images looked. If they are not all the same and perfect size then they wind up looking like trash.

I don't know how to make them all look good without some kind of stretching or other distortion so I am avoiding using one for now.

I have been trying to do that but all the good images are big file sizes. I want the images to look nice but also load fast. I might be hoping for too much.

I had that happen before too. It's hard to find images that are similar sizes that are what you need sometimes.

If you find something that is close then you can use one of those image editing sites online and resize, crop and alter them to be the same.

Yeah I have tried that but getting them to look right after resizing is not as easy as you might think. You have to find something close in size to start with or at least the same aspect ratio.

If you look around and check multiple sources for images then you should be able to find something close enough that by resizing you can find acceptable images.

I know it can take some time if you want something real specific.

I have checked a few but they all seem to be harder to find something that is what I am looking for in a size I need.

I think that if you can get a slider to work really well and it has good images then it is a good idea because it can catch the attention of people if they see something that interests them.

I tried to use one on mine and it was working real good for a while then after an update the text on the slider was too big and it was blocking a lot of the image. I never found out how to fix it so I have not used it since then.

All sliders will make your blog slower if you use them then just using regular images. That is because it has to load more images for the slider. I tried using it some different times and my blog was much slower because of that.

Maybe you can go back to the older version of that plugin or theme to fix it or maybe change the font size with css code.

Did you use images that were optimized?
