What is the best blog post length in words?

How long a blog post should be varries from people to people. Some say 300 plus post is good because Google asks at least 300 word post. Some say, you need to have at least 400 words. When I was writing for hubpages, I was suggested by my mentor that my article should be around 1500. I have actually written 2000 words online article. However, I believe 700 words post will do justice to the topic you are writing about, also satisfy the readers who checcked your article looking for information.

Your blog posts should be good quality and well written without worrying about a certain amount of words that you want to target. When that is done then people tend to add to a blog post many things that are not of any value and it is often obvious that we are doing that.

Just provide a good well written post with all the relevant information that you should have and not worry about the length of your post unless it is rather short. Only then worry about the post length.

I think your 500-700 word posts will be good. Longer wouldn't hurt though just don't try to make them longer because that often leads to lower quality posts just to get a word count up.

When I started blogging newly I made a research and I didn't find a concrete answer but the duration of blogging. I think shorter blogpost of about 400-500 words does the magic. People are sometimes impatient, so it better you capture the main subject matter within a short content than a long boring read.

I always write an elaborate piece for my blog. It's better that way. I believe it should be around a thousand words long. But I prefer to do around 1500-2k words for my blogs. This shows your expertise upon the area you're writing. The more you convey the more visitors are likely to return. For example, if you're writing blog on mobile apps, it's always better to convey to people what types they are, what are their functions, and how did you find it yourself when you used it. Now, this using yourself part is very important as the success of your blog depends on what experiences you've really had with the services that you're writing about. People tend to relate more to those ideas that have been tested by other people.

I partially agree with this. I think it's important to show how knowledgeable you are about the subject, especially if insight is what your potential viewer will be looking for in your niche, but lengthy posts will drive people away if that's not fitting. Take how-tos, for instance. You can explain every little detail about each step they will have to follow, but people ultimately just want to get the thing done. On the contrary, researches, descriptive articles and reviews greatly benefit from 1000+ words posts, and short ones will probably be looked down upon and labelled as superficial.

So, the shocking answer is once again: it depends. The number of words is proportional to the degree of insight the subject you're broaching requires. If I have to make a few esteems, I'd say 500~ words for how-tos and tutorials, and even some kind of news, even better if you let images do the talk for you, 1000+ for the aforementioned examples, and somewhere in-between for anything that doesn't fall in neither category.

I have been trying to write posts that are close to 1000 or more words in my last several posts. I have not been trying to force them that long either but I just try to add good content to them. Should I try to get them to be around 1500 words?

I always try to provide the best quality posts I can. Sometimes it takes me longer then other times but I always try to give good quality posts.

Yes I did not find an answer either. You are saying the shorter ones like 500 words might be better to keep the attention of the readers?

Very good my friend. Providing good quality materials for your posts is very important and since you know this then that will help your success.

I was having blog posts in the 500-700 word range but lately I have been shooting for 800+ words. I saw some articles that said that higher word articles rank much better because of the amount of contact so I am testing that out.

I saw some things about that too. I was reading on neilpatel.com that he said your posts should be almost 2000 words. That's a lot for me to make it as high quality.

Yes really. I was reading a post about SEO and it said something a little under 2000 words but I am not sure the exact number. You can check neilpatel.com and maybe find it there.

I don't think I have ever written one that long. I think I did one around 1500 once but that long was just a 1 time thing I think.

I think my longest one was near 1000 words so I would have to double my longest one each time. That would be a lot of writing.
