The loading speed of the website not only effect the SEO but it also effect your website traffic. Google give more weight to fast loading websites. But you can improve your webstie speed by using the following tips:
    1. Reduce the number of plugins: Using too many plugins can reduce the website speed and it can cause security issues and crashes in the website.
    2. Reduce the http requests: Web page’s load time is spent downloading different parts of the page i.e.; images, style sheets, scripts, Flash, etc. An HTTP request is made for each one of these elements, so the more on-page components, the longer it takes for the page to render.
    3. Reduce the sever response time: Reducing the sever response time can also improve the website speed.
    4. Enable compression: Compression reduces the bandwidth and http response time of the webpages.
    5. Enable browser caching: When you visit a website, the elements on the webpage are temporarily stored in the cache and the next time we visit the website, the browser load the page without having to send another HTTP request to the server.

That sounds like a good idea. I did not know about this one. How can you do this?

There are four things that effect the server response time website traffic, website resource usage, web server software and web hosting. No matter how optimized your web pages are for speed, if your server response time is slow your pages will display slow. According to Google you should reduce your server response time under 200ms.

I don't know how much it will affect seo but if your website is slow then you will have many people leave before they get a chance to see what you want them to see.

Loading speed can have an affect on SEO but unless your website is drastically slow or fast then it won't have much of an impact if at all. Google uses a large amount of ranking factors said to be about 200 and page load speed is a very small factor in that amount.

Unless your site is super slow then speeding it up will probably not have an impact on your rankings. ;)

off course loading speed directly affects SEO. A site loses its 80% of its customer due to slow loading pages.
