Do you create more blogs for affiliate marketing?

I'm not quite an affiliate marketer and I would like to know if it's crucial to have a blog for affiliate marketing to promote affiliate programs on them or share links on review posts?

Having blogs is crucial in my opinion. It helps to have somewhere that you can add the content, articles, reviews or whatever yourself and be in control of it.

Even if it's a free WordPress or another site that will give you a free site/blog. Something is better than nothing.

I think that you should always have one if you are going to be doing affiliate marketing. You will have many more opportunities by having a blog than you will without one.

Whilst there are some people that do not have a blog, I think this is just limiting what they can earn.

Even if you start out with a free one somewhere I think that is better than not having one. :)

I think it is crucial because it's always good to have a blog or website to direct people to for more information if they need more about an affiliate product or just to see something more solid than an email.

Anyone can send an email because all you need is an email account. If you have a blog then that means that you at least put in a little work to set something up besides and email.

I think having a blog makes you look more legitimate, especially if it's a self-hosted blog and not a free one. The free ones are better than nothing though!

Cheers, Dean

Hi Dean, I have a question for you. Do you think the free blogs on places like wordpress.com and sites like that maybe make people loose a little trust in what you are marketing? I was thinking that some people might think the person doesn't care enough to spend a few dollars for their own hosting and blog site so they might not have faith in what they are marketing.

Just curious as to what your thoughts are about that because of your reply. :)

Hi Maria,

Well my thoughts are that if someone see's 2 different websites selling/marketing the same or similar things they would tend to have at least a little more trust for the site that has it's own setup (hosting, domain, and so on) versus one that is using a free website service.

I think that the fact that a person is paying to promote their products or service and makes the commitment to use a paid service would mean that they have better faith in what they are marketing or promoting.

Some people see the free websites as cheap fly-by-night type sites and those people might not be comfortable buying or believing what they see on them. This is based on opinions that I have read and discussed around the web over the years, plus it's how I would see things as well many times.

I would always trust a website that is paying for it's own services and needs over one that's using solely the free stuff, at least initially and in many cases.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Dean

I thought the same thing. I would think that if someone was willing to pay money to set up their own website then they would be at least a little more trustworthy than someone just using the free one. :)

Blog is an excellent way to do affiliate marketing. It helps you to drive some good amount of traffic and increase your sales funnels. Most newbie bloggers do not realize the power of blogging and quit it after few months. Through blogging you can write killer reviews and collect email list to increase your sales. I personally doing it and found it very lucrative.

To get the good amount of traffic do you have to market your blog posts or just create good quality posts and the traffic just starts flowing? Whilst I know it will be slow at first, I don't know if all you need to do is post good blog posts and traffic will start to grow or not.

When you create a post you have to share it on your social media sites to make sure your followers get notified. I do the same thing. creating regular content can drive good amount of traffic. I believe so.

I was also thinking of doing social media sharing for my blog posts when I get my blog built. Which social sites do you think work best for sharing blog posts? I was thinking Facebook but not sure.

Facebook works great for me to drive traffic to my blog. However Twitter and LinkedIn are also beneficial to get quality visitors.
Does most of the traffic that you get from social media websites come from Facebook as the top social traffic source?

I have always gotten a lot more from Twitter over Facebook myself.

I did not know that you could use Linkedin to market your blog posts. I actually did not know you could use it for any marketing. I thought it was just to connect with people on a professional basis.

I thought is was just a business type website for people to find jobs, get contacts and things like that. I really never looked into Linkedin at all. I guess I should then. :)

LinkedIn is really a great platform to promote your blog post. i usually share my posts to LinkedIn as well and get some quality visitors from it. Sometimes they also do convert in to sales.

Thanks Vishwa. I do not know too much about Linkedin, are there certain niche categories that work best there? I have heard that some social sites work better for certain things than others but I have not heard anything about Linkedin.

Thanks again for your post. :)

You don't need to have a blog because you can still get paid traffic(people) to your affiliate offer but if you want free advertising, then I would recommend you to have a blog because you can get people onto your affiliate link on your blog post for free. Good Luck!

You don't need to have a blog for affiliate marketing but it can help to generate more sales and get more traffic to your website. It's a good idea to have one because you can do all kinds of marketing and have lots more information on many different things for potential clients.
