What is more important to you in choosing a web hosting?
Price, quality, location or etc?

Choosing a web hosting service can sometimes be not the easiest of tasks.

However, for me the most important thing is the quality, speed and accuracy of customer service and support (of course, that's assuming I am looking for some kind of managed services or shared hosting). After that I think that the resources are a real close second. Then price would be a factor.

Least for me would be location because of the CDN's like cloudflare that are available. With these CDN's it doesn't really make as much of a difference where I would be getting service from.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Dean

I think good reputation and good service for customers is very important to me and to others also. A good price is also good but I will pay more for good service provided.

Having real good customer service is my main need and what I am looking for when choosing a hosting company.

Resources is also a concern because many of the hosting companies skimp on server resources in order to keep prices down.

After that then price might be something I consider, but as long as the previously mentioned things are good, then price is behind those.

I agree with all of you above but for me its all about stability. You won't need any customer support if your server never problems. You can even wait for the tickets to get response if your query is anything else beside "My SERVER is DOWN?" . So a good hosting for me is the one with 100% uptime. All the factors come after it.

Customer service and reliability are keys for me.

If I am trying to build a business with the site that I am having hosted making certain that the hosting provider has up to date software support and customer support is critical.

One of the last things I look at is price. There is so much competition in that space right now most of the pricing is pretty competitive. So price does not really play much of a factor anymore.

Price and better support is what I want from hosing company. Some times if I need help I do not want to wait long time like many hours or a day.

Best price is important to for me.

I chose some hosting providers, including both shared and VPS but for me, the pricing is often go with quality, if you choose low price, you can get low quality service.

Hosting location is not a problem with me, but the loading speed is more important, I would get fast loading and a best support.

Be careful with price as that has a direct correlation with the number of accounts on a server. i.e. Just to break even you would need 500 $1 accounts to pay for a $500 server. You only need 50 $10 accounts, or 25 $20 accounts etc.
This is such a simple math problem, but people complain that their unlimited everything account they pay $2 a month for isn't very fast.

As I've stated before an entry level hosting engineer costs $20 an hour. This means that taking the cost of the server out of the equation, $2 buys you 6 minutes of his time. $20 buys you an hour.

So if you want decent support (an hour a month) and a reasonably fast site you are probably looking at paying around $30 a month.

Compare this with owning a store, you can't rent a shop for $30 a month, so $30 is NOT expensive.

As already said everything is already obvious after you contact support team of host. Almost 100% of companies are advertising 24/7 support, but in reality only small part is able to handle it

Yes location does matter. You want to make sure that the servers are in your location. For example, the hosting that I use has servers in North America which is good because I live in US but if I was living in EU, it would be not make sense and my loading speed would be slower. Also you want to make sure you are not paying a ridiculous amount of money because I once paid $75 a month and later I found a better hosting company that charge $5 a month and provided same services. Also when you get hosting, you want to make sure that you can easily check emails from domain email, and you can upload files straight or from FileZilla although most of the hosting companies allow you to upload files through Filezilla so you don't have to worry about that. Good Luck!

I did that once myself also. I think many people have done that. I found out after I paid for the service that I could get a lot better service somewhere else for a fraction of the price.

We all have done some things like that but at least we have learned and are now wiser. ;)

I choose hosting if the price is good and they have good quality support for their customers. I have used some bad hosting before that had a great price but bad customer support so I really like a host to have good support that can help me when I have something I need help from them for.

support and uptime are so important as well as not being on a over loaded server
at the end of the day its all about your budget and requirements

I would first go for the features (If I own a personal site, I have no business buying a dedicated server). So lets say you need some shared hosting. I would look that the features my website uses most are plenty (let's say bandwidth). After that I would at the location of the service. I would like for them to have great peering with my visitors. For an European website, you need to buy hosting in Europe, not USA. After that I would look at the quality of the customer support (if any) and the reviews about that certain host. After that I would look at the prices.

I tend to look more at price and what kind of features and resources that I will be getting for that price. I like having good customer service also. Space doesn't really matter too much to me because I don't need much for my website.

Price and location are key things when you chose a hosting provider.

- Price because you don't to over pay simple services and basic hosting servers. If you look more through the hosting providers you may find a same hosting provider in terms of hardware for a cheaper price.

- Location because you want to have the hosting provider in the same zone of the world from where you want to generate traffic to your site. For example if you are targeting Europe customers you want to have a hosting provider in Europe because of the speed and quality.
