They also told me this because they say that windows hosting does not require as much ram to make the website load fast so it can be faster because it is like having more ram. This is not true? This is completely not true. Your website speed doesn't depends on the platform of your host. Whether it is linux or windows. Your website speed depends on lot of factors and how you optimize your website. I also agree with poor web server but that doesn't mean that windows is best and linux is bad or linux is good and windows is bad.
Can all CMS work on both windows and linux? Like wordpress can work on both or just linux?I agree with @vishwa , I don't think that your hosting platform will determine the loading speed of a site itself. I personally think it will more likely depend on the equipment that the server is using that your site is on as well as the CMS or coding of the website itself. I have never seen any information that says windows hosting sites load faster myself.
Cheers, Dean.
I don't know who is guiding you but the are just trying to fool around with you. Some linux distros are way much lighter than a windows and specially built for hosting websites. Once again it is reiterate that multiple factors effect the performance of the website but for a small site you won't note any difference. So assuming that your website is not resource intensive you can go with windows or linux hosting and won't notice any difference. They also told me this because they say that windows hosting does not require as much ram to make the website load fast so it can be faster because it is like having more ram. Thanks for the information mate. I see that you are a host so then which do you think is best if you wanted to host a blog of your own? You would use windows or linux?I don't know who is guiding you but the are just trying to fool around with you. Dear I already answered that. If your website is low on resources it won't matter. However Linux has proven to be more secured in the hosting industry so I would always prefer Linux based hosting as speed is not the only factor to be considered when going to host your site speed, reliability & up time also comes in to play their part. Thanks for the information mate. Thanks. I didn't think about the security part of it. I did not know that linux were more secure.Dear I already answered that. If your website is low on resources it won't matter. Someone told me that windows servers are more efficient than linux servers which is why they are faster. They said that windows servers use less ram also which is one reason why they are faster. I do not know if that is true because I have found nothing stating this when I was searching. The loading speed of the website is dependent on multiple factors and just hosting the website on Windows hosting is not going to make the site load faster. Windows hosting is selected less by users, hence the users on Windows servers can be less than users on Linux server thus some users may have experienced better resource utilisation on Windows servers. Thus they must have said that websites load faster on Windows servers.
Then we should always choose Linux servers for better security?I do not see any major advantage for Windows over Linux. It's just that Linux is more popular and there is nothing like Linux is more secure than Windows, as it all depends more upon the server setup and the administrators running the server.
