I wanted to get some opinions and information from my fellow members as to if it is good to use Youtube to market affiliate products and services?

I have did a little research in Google but I keep getting mixed information.

I have 2 main questions:

1. Is it allowed by Youtube & the affiliate companies?

2. Is it good and worth the effort?

These are my 2 main questions but I will also value any other good information anyone is willing to provide.

:)

Although a lot of people use Youtube for affiliate marketing it's technically against their terms of service. Below is the information I found on the YT policies pages.

You agree not to use the Service for any of the following commercial uses unless you obtain YouTube's prior written approval:
  • the sale of access to the Service;
  • the sale of advertising, sponsorships, or promotions placed on or within the Service or Content; or
  • the sale of advertising, sponsorships, or promotions on any page of an ad-enabled blog or website containing Content delivered via the Service, unless other material not obtained from YouTube appears on the same page and is of sufficient value to be the basis for such sales.

A lot of advertisers do not allow it as well, so you would have to check with the advertisers terms before you tried to do this.

Like I said, a lot of people do it, it's just a matter of time before they get caught unless they are very lucky.

You can always put up some kind of informational videos with links back to you site to find out more and then they can see your ads there.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information Dean. I tried looking around but it seems like it's impossible to get a straight answer. You would think it would be easily found and outlined.

Thanks again. :)

You are welcome Maria. I know that sometimes getting a straight answer on some things can be a difficult task these days. I wish I could offer more help than I did. Best of luck.

you tube is one channel of google , so it is easy for seo , if you can create interest video , you can make money with them
Sorry I missed your reply before. Are you meaning that we can make money from affiliate marketing from youtube videos or make money from them some other way?

Basically here is the deal.

Affiliate companies don't mind, most offers accept social traffic like that.

Dean is right, youtube is against it. You can get away with it for a while but youtube seems to be banning channels easily if they break their rules. Keep in mind that if you make a successful channel, you can make a daily living off youtube adsense if your account is legit.

However, it takes alot of times and effort to grow the channel, so the white hat way is not always the fastest. There are creative ways to promote on youtube but it might be more worth it to stay away if you are trying to build a long term channel.

Well I would like to build a channel up for the long term. How is the best way to do that? Should you promote it on the other social media websites or is that against the youtube rules?

Yes, in my opinion. YouTube is an extremely popular video posting site, therefor you will likely get plenty of views!

Actually video is what I would suggest the current crop of affiliates to start with, I see the video creation as the only hard part, but the seo part is easy and chances are that your videos will rank on both Youtube and Google.
If the video creation is the hard part then why would you recommend video marketing to affiliate?

Is it because it has more potential than other marketing types?

I really don't know what is or is not allowed by both Youtube and the affiliate programs but what I see a lot of affiliate marketers do is that they have reviews on Youtube about video products and then they have links to go to their website to read more or get additional information.

I think this way is good because it can also get people to come and visit your website besides viewing your Youtube videos.

Yes you could do affiliate marketing on youtube. You could do this by doing reviews about the product and telling your viewers where to buy the certain product that you are reviewing. You could also include the information about the product, the company and how to purchase in the description box. Youtube is an excellent way to promote a product and there is a high chance that people would buy because they are seeing the product in action through the video. So affiliate marketing and youtube is really a great combo.
