Is it good to promote many types of products?

I was wondering what others think about promoting many different types of products on the same website. Is it ok to have many different types of products that are promoted on the same website but on different pages or would it be better to have a separate website for each product type?

Meaning something like promoting cooking and household items and other non-household and cooking items on the same website. I hope that was explained right.

This would mainly come down to opinions and personal preferences Maria. Personally I usually try to have a website covering products or services that are at least somewhat related and have separate websites for others. I do have a couple that are random general products and services but they are the minority.

I know many different people that have had great success doing it both ways so it's really just a personal choice in my opinion. I would do whatever you think will best fit your needs and goals. ;)

You can promote many types of products on one website but it will be best not to mix things that do not belong like adult and not adult products.

Yeah, that might not work out the best for sales of either. I'm sure that some people have probably done things like that before though. ;)

I think that you will be fine with promoting many different types of products as long as you are not trying to rank specifically for one type of product. It just depends on what exactly you are wanting to do.

I think that you can promote many types of products on the same website but it would help if they were somewhat related. That way people that come to your website for one thing might check something else they find on the site that is related to what they came there for.

Good point Catherine, having related items on your site can mean more or additional sales. Why not give the potential clients and customers more of what they came to your site for? Always a good idea.

I just think that if people are coming to your website it is always best to have many different things available that they might be interested in. More chances for more sales. :)

Thanks but I don't know if I am one of those yet.
If you are thinking like what you had posted (sales on your mind and opportunities) then you are one without a doubt!

I think that you can promote several types of products but you will probably want to keep to the same basic niche. It might be hard to draw traffic for multiple niches to do well with your product sales.

I have thought about it and think that you are right. It will probably be best to have products that are at least a little similar.

This is what I do and it has always worked out quite well for me. That way if people don't find exactly what they are looking for then they might find a similar product or service that will fill their need. ;)

When I was giving it some thought I was figuring that if people came to my blog for one thing but they were not interested then maybe they might be interested in something that is similar. That way it gives me more chances for more sales.

Sometimes when people are searching or looking at something they aren't completely sure what exactly they want so having other related products or services should be able to offer those particular people more options.

If you are promoting many similar things on the same site then you can get some customers or clients that you would have not got if you didn't have related products on your site.

Hi MariaMarketing,

It is a good idea to display additional products that "go together" in order to increase your potential for conversion. I'd never recommend deviating too far in regards to the relationship between the products, however, as you have to consider the intent of the surfer when they landed on your page. If I arrive looking for a frying pan and your page also includes product listings for pots, pans, casserole dishes, etc., my mind would naturally go "Hmmm...what do we have here?" and explore further. If you have an additional product listing for, say, car floor mats, the likelihood of a surfer converting is low.

Ideally, you should consider building pages with ads "themed" around the content to improve the likelihood of a sale.

It is better if you keep all the products in a same website but different pages. But do not use different websites because if you would use different websites then you would have to optimize different websites for the searching engines and that is a difficult task.
You can add the name of the products in one web page along with a short product description, that way users will be able to view/check all the products and you can add the detail of products in different web pages. You can also create the categories of products and add relevant products into the same category.
